Meaningful travel begins in the quieter moments.

The small-group journeys throughout India combine local community experiences, heritage stays, nature and thoughtful pacing.
Each tour has a unique focus rooted in meaningful cultural connection and immersive travel.

Meeting Vibhuti in Rishikesh & Discovering SheFarer

I met Vibhuti during my stay in Rishikesh, where we shared coffee at the Beatles Café and exchanged stories about travel and India. I was fascinated to learn about SheFarer’s unique approach to creating specialist boutique tours for women across India.
Her ethos immediately resonated with me because, as a midlife woman living with a chronic health condition, I personally prefer slow, immersive travel experiences over fast-paced tours built around long checklists of must-see attractions.
What stood out most was the focus on meaningful cultural connection, thoughtful pacing, and creating experiences that allow women to truly feel a place rather than simply pass through it.
The following information was provided by Vibhuti, the founder of SheFarer

The story behind SheFarer Women Only Tours
Hi, I am Vibhuti—an Indian woman, a traveller and the heart behind SheFarer.
SheFarer was born from a simple but powerful idea: to create a space where women can experience India not as tourists, but as participants in its stories, culture and everyday beauty.
Over time, I began to feel that much of how women experience India is shaped by bucket-list destinations and curated highlights – beautiful, but often distant from the country’s true rhythm. What was missing was the feeling of India: the quiet conversations, the shared meals, the unplanned moments, and the lived realities that don’t make it to itineraries.
SheFarer is my way of bridging that gap – offering journeys that move beyond checklists and into connection.
Growing up in India, I have always felt that the most meaningful experiences aren’t found in guidebooks – they are in conversations over chai, in shared laughter with local women and in walking through places slowly enough to truly feel them.
Through SheFarer, I design journeys that allow women to connect—with the country, with local communities, and with themselves. These are not rushed itineraries; they are immersive experiences rooted in authenticity, comfort, and connection.
What makes SheFarer tours different?
Our journeys are:
- Women-only – creating a safe, open and supportive travel environment
- Culturally immersive – from local homes to hands-on experiences
- Thoughtfully paced – balancing exploration with rest and reflection
- Community-driven – real interactions, not staged tourism
We go beyond sightseeing—we help you feel India.

Suitable for Solo female Travellers
Our women-only tours are especially suited to solo female travellers looking to experience India in a safe, welcoming and culturally immersive way.
If solo travel in India feels intimidating, thoughtfully curated women-only journeys like SheFarer can offer a slower and more supportive way to experience the country.
A Glimpse Into Our Past Journeys
Over time, we have curated experiences that stay with our travellers long after the journey ends.
Here are a few moments from our recent journeys:
Tea Gardens & Slow Living
Women walked freely through lush tea estates, learning the art of tea plucking alongside local workers, and sharing stories with women who have lived there for generations.
Village Connections
We were welcomed by a local with a warm smile—shared meals, learnt about traditions, and experienced India at its most heartfelt level.
Textiles & Craft Traditions
Women took part in hands-on sessions with artisans, learning about India’s rich textile heritage, and connecting with the women who keep these traditions alive.

Current women only Indian tours on offer:
Spiritual India: Varanasi & Rishikesh
Gujarat: Craft, Community & Landscape
Kerela: Land, Water & Heritage

An insight into one of our upcoming journeys: Kerela
An example of a SheFarer journey is the upcoming South India journey in autumn, featuring tranquil backwaters, tea gardens in Kerala, heritage stays and meaningful cultural encounters.
Our upcoming South India tour is designed as a sensory and soulful experience.
Think:
- Lush green landscapes and tranquil backwaters
- Heritage stays that reflect local architecture and culture
- Encounters with local women and communities
- Gentle exploration of traditions, food, and daily life
This journey blends nature, culture, and meaningful human connection while still allowing time to pause, reflect, and simply be.

Are Shefarer Indian Tours Right for me?
Perfect for midlife women
Many of our travellers are midlife women seeking meaningful travel, not rushed checklists. The environment is welcoming, supportive and non-intimidating.
Pace of the tour
Our tours are well-balanced—not fast-paced. We ensure:
- Time to explore
- Time to rest
- Space for personal moments
No exhausting schedules—just intentional travel.
Dietary requirements
We carefully cater to dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, and other preferences wherever possible. Indian cuisine itself offers incredible flexibility, and we work closely with our partners to ensure comfort.
Chronic health conditions & Accessibility
Slower and more thoughtful travel can feel more supportive for many women, but every traveller’s needs are different.
If you have a chronic illness, accessibility requirements or concerns about energy levels and pace, SheFarer encourages personal conversations before booking to explore whether a journey feels right for you.
What You Can Expect to Feel:
- Safe and supported
- Deeply connected to the place
- Inspired by stories of local women
- Rejuvenated, not exhausted

Safe & Supportive Travel for Women in India
We understand that many women feel uncertain about travelling in India independently. Our women-only tours are designed to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where travellers can relax and experience India with confidence.
The Care Behind Every SheFarer Journey
New journeys are always in the making, with each SheFarer experience personally curated by Vibhuti. From selecting local guides and heritage stays to shaping the pace and cultural experiences of each itinerary, every detail is thoughtfully arranged with care and intention.
Because these are deeply personal, immersive journeys rather than mass-produced tours, each experience takes time to create.

Our Values: we focus on doing fewer things, well.
Partnering with Local Women
Wherever possible, we collaborate with women, guides, hosts, artisans, and educators. This supports local livelihoods and creates authentic cultural access.
Ethical Choices
Ethics are embedded quietly: Small group sizes, regionally owned accommodations, fair partnerships, and environmental sensitivity.
Small-Scale Impact
We do not aim for scale at the cost of integrity. Impact is measured through trust built over time and meaningful, sustained engagement.

A Final Orchids to Olives Reflection on Shefarer Women Only Tours of India
Speaking with Vibhuti reminded me that some of the most memorable travel experiences come not from rushing between attractions, but from the quieter moments in between — shared conversations, local connections and travelling slowly enough to truly absorb a place.
For me, that is also a form of wellbeing travel: journeys that leave you feeling connected, grounded and enriched rather than exhausted. That thoughtful approach is what makes SheFarer feel different.
Thank you Vibhuti !
