Nomads with Chronic Health Conditions Survey
Are you a digital nomad with a chronic health condition?
The decision to embark on long term travel or a digital nomad lifestyle when you have a chronic health issue can bring extra challenges, but depending on your condition, it doesn’t mean the door is closed to you.
However, it does mean that you may have additional challenges to face that other travellers simply don’t experience. This can feel really quite lonely at times and is the reason I am considering setting up a supportive group – for my benefit as much as yours!
What is a chronic health condition?
It is defined as a physical or mental health issue that is ongoing. Therefore, this includes physical conditions such as diabetes and arthritis and mental health conditions such as anxiety, PTSD and depression.
What the support group will NOT be:
I am not a health care professional and the support group will not be related to offering any medical advice. Any concerns about your health should be referred to your healthcare provider.
Before embarking on any travel, you should confirm with your doctor that you are fit to travel and any health concerns are manageable whilst travelling.
My personal experience:
For the past two years I have been suffering with a neurological condition that manifests as numbness, burning and a weak left leg, pressure in my lower back, occasional numbness in my left arm and tinging in my mouth.
After multiple tests and after seeing numerous specialists, the diagnosis is that there’s nothing physically wrong me but may be a result of trauma. My symptoms have challenged me both physically and emotionally. You can read more about my story here.
